于8月1日出版的最新一期《文明》杂志刊登了国际奥委会主席雅克罗格和国际奥委会终生名誉主席胡安安东尼奥萨马兰奇分别为《奥林匹克与中国》（新北京新奥运珍藏特刊Ⅱ）画册写作的序言。罗格的序言为《全世界的注意力聚焦北京》（World Attention Focuses on Beijing），萨马兰奇的序言为《期盼北京2008》（Expecting Beijing 2008）。以下是国际奥委会主席罗格序言的原文：
World Attention Focuses on Beijing
President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge
On 29 August 2004, the Olympic flag was handed over from Athens to Beijing in the Olympic Stadium in Athens. With this symbolic1 gesture, those unforgettable, dream Games came to an end, and the eyes of the world turned from Greece to China, where the Olympic Games will be held for the first time.
To mark this occasion, the well-known publication Civilization Magazine has issued a special Olympic Series. With this edition, the magazine shows its commitment to promoting the Olympic ideals and knowledge of the Olympic Movement and Games among the people of China.
Since Beijing was chosen as host city for the 2008 Games, just a few days before I was elected as IOC President, I have visited China many times. And each time I realise how much I still have to learn and discover about this wonderful country, its history, its culture and its people. Month after month, the IOC is pleased to note the quality of preparation and understanding of the challenges by the Beijing Organising Committee , under the leadership of its President, Qi Liu, and with the support of all the Chinese people.
Permit me to take this opportunity to underline how important it is to have the full collaboration2 of BOCOG, not only with the IOC Coordination3 Commission and the IOC administration, but also with the national and local authorities is in order to make the Games successful and ensure that the impact of the Games leaves an appropriate long-term legacy4 for the people of the host city and country.
As we all know, the Olympic Games require not only a well-organised and professional Organising Committee but also TOP quality athletes in order to be a success. During the Athens Games, Chinese athletes produced some truly outstanding performances, not only in traditional sports such as table tennis and badminton, but also in sports where these were least expected, such as athletics5 and tennis. Such remarkable6 achievements are encouraging as we look forward to Beijing.
In 2008, a new Beijing will welcome the athletes of the world. And the world will discover the Olympic Games in a country that wants the world to discover a different, so far largely unknown culture and history.
《全世界的注意力聚焦北京》 国际奥委会主席 罗格
2004年8月29日，在雅典奥运体育场北京从雅典手中接过了奥运会会旗。伴随这一富有象征意义的举动，那届难忘的，梦幻般的运动会落下帷幕，全世界的目光从希腊转向中国，转向这个马上初次举办奥运会的国度。
为了记录这一时刻，著名的文明杂志社特别制作了奥运系列刊物。出版新北京?新奥运珍藏特刊是文明杂志社致力于在中国民众中推广奥运理想，普及奥林匹克运动和奥运会常识的举措。
在我当选国际奥委会主席的前夕，北京获得了2008年奥运会的主办权。此后，我多次访问中国。每一次我都深深意识到，对如此一个神奇的国度，对她的历史、文化和人民，我还有不少东西需要知道。日复1日，国际奥委会非常高兴地注意到，北京奥组委在奥组委主席刘淇的领导和所有中国民众的支持下正为奥运会做着优质的筹备工作，他们充分认识到所面临的挑战。
在此，请允许我借此机会着重强调，为了达成成功举办北京奥运会、并确保此次奥运会的影响能在较长的时间内成为主办国和主办城市人民的一笔遗产这一目的，北京奥组委与国际奥委会协调委员会、国际奥委会行政委员会，与中国中央和各地方政府的通力合作是至关要紧的。
大家都知道，成功举办奥运会不只需要具备好组织性与专业水准的组委会，更需要一流运动员的参与。在雅典奥运会上，中国运动员不只在乒乓球、羽毛球这类传统项目上表现出色，而且还在田径、网球这种项目上创造了最意料之外的骄人成绩。这类成绩这样地激励人心，令大家愈加期待北京奥运会。 2008年，一个崭新的北京将欢迎世界各地的运动员。届时，大家会看到在一个渴望被全世界所知道的国度里举行的奥运会，而她的文化和历史是那样独一无二和不为人知。
