你是不是对如此的场景感到很了解?你的英语进展顺利,熟知了语法,阅读也没问题,也可以和其他人流利地交流,但听力却仍然不可以!
第一,你要了解其他人也会遇见你如此的问题。几乎对于所有将英语作为外语来学习的人来讲,听力可能是困难程度最大的一项了。
非常重要的就是要多听,尽量常常听。下一步就是找到听力材料。互联网对于英语学习者来讲则是一个很有用的工具。
Strategies
方案
once you have begun to listen on a regular basis, you might still be frustrated by limited understanding. What should you do?
当你开始按期地进行听力训练,你可能还是会由于很难理解其中的意思而烦恼不已(形容词=upset)。那样你如何做呢?
Accept the fact that you are not going to understand everything.
同意一个事实,即你不可能听懂所有些内容。
Keep cool when you do not understand - even if you continue to not understand for a long time.
当你听不懂,甚至在非常长一段时间里都听不懂时,维持冷静(习语=放轻松)
Do not translate into your native language
不要把它们翻译成你的母语(近义词=母语)
Listen for the gist of the conversation. Don't concentrate on detail until you have understood the main ideas.
听对话中的主旨(名词=大意)在你理解主旨前,不要把精力集中在细节上。
First, translating creates a barrier between the listener and the speaker.
第一,翻译会给听者和说者之间带来障碍(名词=墙壁,离别)
Second, most people repeat themselves constantly. By remaining calm , you can usually understand what the speaker had said.
第二,很多人喜欢不断地重复。维持冷静(形容词=放松的),你就一直可以听懂说者的意思。
Translating Creates a Barrier between Yourself and the Person Who is Speaking
翻译会给听者和说者之间带来障碍
While you are listening to another person speaking a foreign language , the temptation is to immediately translate into your native language.
当你在听另外一个人用外语(以英语为例)说话时,你容易被魅惑着将它翻译成你的母语。
This temptation becomes much stronger when you hear a word you don't understand. This is only natural as we want to understand everything that is said. However, when you translate into your native language, you are taking the focus of your attention away from the speaker and concentrating on the translation process taking place in your brain. This would be fine if you could put the speaker on hold . In real life, however, the person continues talking while you translate. This situation obviously leads to less -not more- understanding. Translation leads to a kind of block in your brain which sometimes doesn't allow you to understand anything at all!
当你听到一个不认识的词汇时,这种魅惑力会更强。想要了解所有说话的内容是人之常情。但,当你将它翻译成母语时,你的注意力就会从说者转到脑中的翻译过程中了。假如你将说者放在一边也无可厚非。但,在实质情境中,在你翻译的时候,说话的人还在继续。这样的情况只能致使你听懂的愈加少。翻译会在你脑中产生一种阻塞(名词=没任何运动或活动),有时会叫你听不进任何事!
1.Most People Repeat Themselves
大部分人喜欢重复
Think for a moment about your friends, family, and colleagues. When they speak in your native tongue, do they repeat themselves? Not literally , rather, the general idea. If they are like most people, they probably do. That means that whenever you listen to someone speaking, it is very likely that he will repeat the information, giving you a second, third or even fourth chance to understand what has been said.
想想你的朋友、家人和同事。当他们说者母语的时候,是否一直在重复呢?不是逐字地(副词=word for word),而是重复其中的大意。假如他们跟大部分人一样,那样他们就是这么做的。也就是说不管你在什么时间听其他人说话,他们都大概(形容词=probable)会重复信息,给你第二次,第三次甚至第四次机会来理解他们所说的意思。
By remaining calm, allowing yourself to not understand, and not translating while listening, your brain is free to concentrate on the most important thing: Understanding English in English.
维持冷静,允许自己在理解上有所疏漏,听的时候不要进行翻译,你的大脑就能将精力集中在非常重要的一点上:用英语理解英语。
Probably the greatest advantage of using the Internet to improve your listening skills is that you can choose what you would like to listen to and how many and times you would like to listen to it. By listening to something you enjoy, you are also likely to know a lot more of the vocabulary required!
或许互联网最大的优势就是,通过选择你喜欢的听力材料,并决定听的次数来改变你的听力。听一些你喜欢的内容,你就大概提升词语量!
2.Use Key Words
关键字
Use keywords or key phrases to help you understand the general ideas. If you understand New York, business trip, last year you can assume that the person is speaking about a business trip to New York last year. This may seem obvious to you, but remember that understanding the main idea will help you to understand the detail as the person continues to speak.
