will/would 用辨析

A man of integrity, he would keep his word, I am certain.

为何上句不需要will,而用了would呢？ 既然刚开始就说A man of intergrity, 按理要用he will keep...。

用would表推断的可能性低于will, 与a man of integrity不是有点矛盾吗？

用will完全可以。用would则说话时留有空间，看上去更有涵养，给听话人发表不认可见的机会。这是情态动词过去形式表示委婉的使用方法之一。你一个人的理解过于狭隘。
