直接引语的tomorrow在间接引语中的改法

在引语转换中，直接引语中的 tomorrow 一般在间接引语中要改为 the next day。如：

“I will come to see you tomorrow,” he said.

He said he would come to see me the _______ day.

答案是填 next。我的疑问是：可以填 following 吗？由于 the following day 也是第二天的意思啊！

假如直接引语中的时间状语是 tomorrow，改为间接引语后，时间状语可以用 the next day 或者 the following day

所以，“I will come to see you tomorrow,” he said. / He said he would come to see me the _______ day.这道题的答案可以填 next，也可以填 following 。
