1） And loving the station as they did,...原句loving正确，不可以改为love

2）even if the train were punctual（注意were）这个从句就足够提示大家选C了，这是一个虚拟语气，表示“即使火车按时到达”，实质就是the train was not punctual，说明这个班次火车（不限于本次）的特征就是“会迟到”。which was most unlikely更是补充说“按时到”是不可能的。
