Next of kin^{1 是指家人或者近亲。}

在美国，所谓亲人也是依每一个人的不同状况而定的，可能是夫妇、爸爸妈妈、儿女或是叔叔婶婶、表兄弟姐妹。

比如：

If a person has a serious car accident, his or her next of kin will be notified.

假如遭遇紧急车祸，当事人的近亲就会接到公告。

At the funeral all next of kin were in attendance.

所有些亲属都参加了葬礼。

假如kin单独用，用作家属或亲属的总称，则一般后面不加s。

比如：All my kin attended the family get-together^2.

大家全家集聚一堂。
